What’s the deal about a “covenant”?

In the Bible a covenant is an agreement either between God and people or between individuals before God. It is not a contract. Covenants are based on relationships. Contracts are based on quid pro quo, transactions, this for that, regardless of relationship.

This membership covenant is offered in both senses of the term: an agreement with the Lord and with others who are also part of the family known as BCC.

Our covenant consists of four commitments— four promises—that we make to each other and to the Lord. These are choices we make as we follow Jesus as a community.

People don’t have to become members to be a part of BCC. There are very few things you can’t do if you’re not a member. But we invite you into this covenant with us as we live out our mission
