DivorceCare

New Sessions will be scheduled soon!

Don’t go through it alone. Find help and healing for the hurt of separation and divorce! Registration form is at the bottom of this page.

What is DivorceCare? DivorceCare is a biblical, Christ-centered support group ministry. It’s a lay-led group of friendly, caring people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences and help provide tools for healing. Seminars and support groups are led by people who understand what you are going through. You will learn the healing process from the deep hurt of divorce and discover hope for your future. DivorceCare is a safe environment to talk with others who have experienced or are experiencing a similar situation. You can read more about the program itself at DivorceCare.org.

Where is it? Sessions will be held at the church upstairs, starting out in the multipurpose room. Please park out back and come in the rear door, past the church offices.

Is there child care? Child care is not currently available. If you have children, please arrange for child care on your own.

Who can attend? Anyone going through separation or divorce, or who has gone through separation or divorce, who wants an empathetic support group to process their healing. This group is open to the community. We do request that only people dealing with divorce and separation attend these sessions. Family members and friends are a great supportive resource, but the support group itself is limited to people dealing with this experience.

What does it cost? A $15 donation is asked to cover the cost of your workbook. If you can’t afford that, however, don’t let it keep you from coming, we will work something out.

How do the sessions work? First, we pray together, introduce any new members, and go over the group guidelines. Each week we watch a 30-40 minute video covering issues like emotional healing, anger, forgiveness, depression, loneliness, parenting, finances, and new relationships. After that we take a short break and then have group discussion. If the group becomes very large, we break up into smaller groups. There are some workbook exercises to do during the week as well.

All group sessions are meant to be supportive and positive, and healing and rebuilding are the goals. This is a support group and not formal group therapy. If your circumstances require professional counseling or legal help, we can refer you to a reputable licensed counselor or lawyer in the community.

Do I have to join at the beginning? You can join sessions at any time, but please fill out the form below so we can make sure there are enough workbooks available. Aside from that, it’s good to join as early as possible so you can become familiar with the other attendees in the group.
