Great question! Some churches make a big deal about membership. And they tend to pile on a lot of “extras.” But in these churches it can almost become like an extra level of spirituality for folks. Other churches don’t talk about it at all. They accept that people are leery of making commitments these days. And that’s fine.
Here’s the deal. You won’t find the phrase “church membership” or anything like it in the New Testament. But the principles behind it are everywhere the church is talked about. The purpose behind church membership here at BCC is to make clear what it means to be a part of our church family, as demonstrated in the teaching and examples in the Bible. It’s a way for folks who have chosen to follow Jesus to say, “I’m in! I am choosing to be a part of this family called Beavercreek Christian Church, who are called and empowered to reveal the beauty of the kingdom of God in our neighborhood, in our community, and in our world.”
