discipleship

Our Vision and Mission… to become a “2nd mile church” of disciples making disciples

God has given us the vision to become a church centered around being disciples of Jesus who help others also become disciples of Jesus. Following Christ’s example, we intend to engage with people and live life with them, because that’s exactly where discipleship takes place.

We believe the church is God’s people, not a brick-and-mortar building. This campus is just where we worship corporately, celebrate what God has been doing, encourage and fellowship with one another, equip ourselves for discipleship, and share those lessons with our children and anyone else who wants to engage in the conversation. Our challenge is to go and make disciples as Christ did, and that doesn’t only happen inside a church building.

Our church is in the process of becoming a missional community. That means we’re not interested in numbers as much as in hearing God stories and sharing our faith and compassion with people wherever we are during the week.

up-in-outFor Jesus, discipleship began at the Jordan River and continued on mountainsides, in people’s homes, at meals, at the seaside, on the streets, in a boat, or along the road. During his ministry, Jesus dealt with people right where they were. He let them know they belonged, and they were cherished and they could be forgiven. He told his followers to engage others in discipleship just as he had done. This is our mission. Our strategy for carrying out this discipleship mission is summed up in three words: UP, IN, and OUT. UP refers to our personal relationship with God, IN refers to our relationships among the church body, and OUT refers to our relationships with those outside our church body. These can be visualized in a triangle that depicts a balanced life, based on the example of Jesus’s time on earth.

Our Core Values:

Every church has a shared set of values, and we believe every church has a unique calling. God has called Beavecreek Christian Church to be 2nd mile people. Jesus said, “If someone forces you to go one mile, go with them two.” This is a tangible expression of God’s love extended through us to others. Being a 2nd mile church means sharing these values:

1. Responsiveness

We want to be responsive to the needs of people we encounter and to the Holy Spirit’s prompting in our lives.

2.  Intentionality

We want to intentionally love and serve others, to purposely invest in all relationships to see the kingdom of God break out as we “go with” them.

3. Generosity

We want to imitate God’s generosity in all we have and are, “For God so loved the world, He gave…”

Our Core Beliefs:

  1. There is one God who exists in three persons: the Father, the Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.
  2. The Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God and is the authority for our life.
  3. Man is created in God’s image, but has been marred by sin and separated from God.
  4. We are made right with God by believing that Jesus’ death on the cross satisfies our sin debt.
  5. The Holy Spirit dwells within every believer to form Christ in them.
  6. Jesus will return to eternally reign with His followers, and those who do not belong to Him will be separated from Him forever.
